First off, let me start by apologizing for continuously using The Clone Wars poster when discussing all things dealing with Star Warsand television. In terms of Star Wars TV, it's the only thing we've got. As soon as the first concept art appears for the live-action series, expect us to begin using that. But, for now, this is it.
Yesterday we were told that Lucas plans to meet with his writers this week to finally get something down on paper for the live-action series. With these meetings we should hopefully learn more of what to expect from the project. Fortunately, it doesn't look like we had to wait that long for something new, as those with high Midi-chlorian counts across the web are already posting some new details.
Star Wars Live-Action Details
The good people at AICN have posted some of the latest details for the live-action Star Wars series. It isn't much, but at least it's not the same ol' "will take place between III and IV," that everybody else loves regurgitating.
We’ve previous been told the television series will be set between movie episodes III and IV, but we didn’t know much about what to expect beyond that. Kuato illuminated: we’ll get a little bit of everything in the show; the series very much embraces the broad scope of the STAR WARS universe. For example, we'll revisit Pod Races, and the characters and shenanigans/politics the events bring with them.
There will be several instances in which characters are related to, or progenitors of, other characters in both the STAR WARS film universe & the franchise’s “Expanded Universe” (or “Extended Universe” if you prefer). One such character is a straight-laced Rebel with the last name Naberre…Padme’s last name in the Prequels was Naberre. I was a little confused here, but I believe this guy is supposed to be in his 20s…which would (presumably) make him related to Padme in some way.
Since the Republic will transition into an Empire over the course of the show, we are told to also expect tons of Imperials.
