Iron Man Teaser Poster Iron Man
I got a confession to make. I wasn't all that thrilled about the upcoming Iron Man adaptation until the first production photo appeared featuring the cast all dressed up. But that image only raised my curiosity, I was still waiting for something big.

Then the Comic Con footage hit the net and, though it was grainy, I was hooked. The first trailer only supported my rookie excitement, and I now consider the project to be one of the biggest tentpoles of 2008. So why do I still feel we know relatively little about it?

Iron Man Details

For those of you who have an attention for details, AdvancedIron has published their latest ezine issue and it is chalk full of them. In it you can find an extended interview with director Jon Favreau as he talks about everything Iron Man. Be it special effects or the use of miniatures, they cover a lot.

AI: You know, one of the things you do really well -- and I noticed this on Zathura too -- is how you are combining the CGI with the authentic special effects really, really well...

JF: Yeah that's a big thing for me because I hate just pure CGI although it's getting a lot better. It'll change in the next 5 to 10 years it's just going to be irrelevant, but for right now where the technology is you have to treat it like a magic trick. You show something real, then you switch it up with something fake, you show something else real. So there are certain scenes where the guys are totally practical and then you cut to a shot where he's completely CG, and then you cut to a shot where the upper half of the body is practical...

The above represents the tiniest snippet from the interview, so be ready to learn more than you ever wanted on the project.

You can download the issue at AdvancedIron.

Iron Man opens to theatres on May 2nd, 2008.
