Naomi Watts
God I love that picture (right). I know we use it for a lot of our Naomi Watts updates, but it is just that good.
Though I still don't understand why a The Birds remake is in order, the production is beginning to collect some talent. Naomi Watts has been cast to swat at the winged troublemakers while Martin Campbell is contemplating the role of director.
Naomi Watts for The Birds
Universal Pictures has picked up Naomi Watts to star in The Birds, a reimagining of Daphne du Maurier's short story. Yes, the same short story that was directed by Alfred Hitchcock back in 1963.
Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce through their Platinum Dunes shingle, while Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman are producing for Mandalay Pictures.
Unlike most new projects we have been announcing of late, Universal has no desire to rush The Birds in order to get in front of the upcoming strike; which is still a strong possibility.
A first draft of the script is already available from scribes Stiles White and Juliet Snowden, but that doesn't mean Universal won't bring on some more creative minds to rewrite it.
Universal has got time to figure that out, as both Watts and Campbell are busy with a plethora of projects. Campbell is attached to Fox's runaway train actioner Unstoppable and crime thriller 36 at Paramount.
Watts is currently filming The International and will jump over to Kicked, Bitten and Scratched: Life and Lessons at the World's Premiere School for Exotic Animal Trainers once that wraps. She can next be seen in Funny Games.
