Some nice reviews and a popular topic helped make the vampire adaptation, 30 Days of Night, the best film over the weekend.

30 Days of Night Takes the Weekend

30 Days of Night grossed $16 million at 2,855 locations. Yes, it's not exactly spectacular, but it was enough to come out on top of this weak box office. 30 Days of Night was followed by Why Did I Get Married?, The Game Plan and Michael Clayton respectively.

Married declined only 43% to earn another $12 million to bring its total to $38.9 million. The Game Plan, which continues to play to rediculously strong numbers, can't seem to lose an audience with a decline of 26%. The Disney feature starring The Rock has earned $69.1 million domestically.

Michael Clayton got a few more screens to help earn another $7.1 million. The word of mouth on this Clooney-starrer is ridiculously high, something that should help get the film close to the $50 million mark before it finishes its run in theaters.

While the top four positions over the weekend were evenly distributed, the number five spot has yet to be decided. The estimates for The Comebacks and Gone Baby Gone are so close, that we are going to have to wait until we get some official numbers. As of right now, the estimates have Gone Baby Gone as the leader. Since the film's reviews were way better than the sports spoof, we are rooting for the Affleck brothers.

We Own the Night continues to unimpress with an estimated $5.5 million over the weekend. Disney almost beat it out with the re-release of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas.
