Julia Stiles has stepped in to replace Sarah Polley for the adaptation of Cry of the Owl.
Julia Stiles for Cry of the Owl
Sarah Polley had to drop the project due to a scheduling project, leaving Paddy Considine and Scott Speedman without a leading lady. Stiles quickly stepped in to play a woman who falls in love with her stalker.
Cry of the Owl is the adaptation of the 1962 novel by Patricia Highsmith. Jamie Thraves both wrote the script and will direct.
Considine will play the man who moves to Stiles' suburban town and begins spying on her. Speedman will play her jilted ex, who complicates matters further when he plots revenge against her.
Principal photography is set to begin Oct. 30 in Toronto. This will be the second attempt at Cry of the Owl, as Highsmith's book was previously adapted in a 1987 French-language film by director Claude Chabrol.
Julia Stiles can next be seen in Gospel Hill. She has remained on the scene with small roles in films such as The Bourne Ultimatum.
