Eliza Dushku
It looks like Whedon is tired of waiting for Serenity 2 and will be returning to television for, no, not Firefly (sorry), but Dollhouse. He has a hottie in tow, with Eliza Dushku the first onboard.
Eliza Dushku Follows Whedon to Dollhouse
Dushku and Whedon have some history thanks to both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Dollhouse, a series penned by Whedon, has been given the greenlight for a seven-episode arc by Fox -- who also played host to Buffy and Angel.
Dollhouse tells the story of a top-secret world of people programmed with different personalities, abilities and memories depending on their mission.
After each assignment -- which can be physical, romantic or even illegal -- the characters have their memories wiped clean, and are sent back to a lab (dubbed the "Dollhouse"). Show centers on Dushku's character, Echo, as she slowly begins to develop some self-awareness, which impacts her missions.
Whedon already has an outline ready for the seven episodes. He will also have some time to polish them up, as Fox doesn't plan on having Dollhouse in production until spring. With such a start date, all seven segments could be wrapped by fall, allowing for an uninterrupted season.
"To be sitting here talking about episodes of a series in November; that's exciting," said Fox Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly. "I think we're in great hands."
Besides, if the show doesn't work out, they can always make a badass feature film out of it; cough, Serenity, cough.
It turns out that Whedon wasn't planning on returning to the small screen, but got convinced by Dushku herself.
"He's my favorite genius," Dushku said. "And my favorite friend. He's been like a big brother ... and the only person out here I've ever wholeheartedly trusted, because he's never let me down."
