Back in the middle of September Heroes: Origins couldn't have looked any better. NBC picked up both Michael Dougherty and Eli Roth, who were scheduled to add their talent to at least a couple of the spinoff's episodes. But, thanks in part to the upcoming WGA strike, NBC has been given the excuse they needed to put the project on hold for the time being.
NBC Puts Heroes: Origins Into a Holding Pattern
Besides the possible strike, NBC has another reason to shelve the project; at least for now. Heroes sophomore season isn't getting the response that they hoped -- get Hiro the hell out of history! -- and the fact that the series lost some 'key staff members' just aggravates the wound.
NBC is considering the strike to be a real threat, and have hence begun re-evaluating all their unproduced production commitments.
I for one am fine with NBC's decision, just as long as they can focus on the original series. Sure, that makes for less TV to watch over the hiatus, but one has to always choose quality over quantity when it comes to television.
