This doesn't really come as much of a surprise. Any time you have a production as big as something like Star Trek, one can expect more than a single teaser trailer to get the fans into a fever. And when I say teaser, I mean teaser. We are not talking about a 90-second trailer that actually shows dialogue and cast, we are talking about something so short that only gives a couple glimpses of anything cool.
You know, a legitimate teaser -- something that is rare these days.
So, when we hear that Paramount is already working on such a teaser for Star Trek, there is room to get excited, but don't expect to see much.
Teaser Trailer in the Works for Star Trek
The good people at LatinoReview have been told by a source close to Star Trek's production that a teaser trailer is already in the works.
“Apparently, there’s a teaser trailer in the works that shows the Enterprise being built. Code name for the production is Central Headquarters.”
Judging by the scoop, I guess we will likely see a lot of space -- like Star Trek: The Motion Picture a lot -- probably some cool font, a tagline and then, BAM, a quick shot of the Enterprise under construction.
Now that's a teaser. Paramount wouldn't even need a single frame of footage to pull it off. Just a bit of digital, and a lot of space.
Star Trek XI opens to theaters on December 25th, 2008.
