Meet the Robinsons
More proof that we are sometimes too hard on CG films. Knowing exactly what it is, Disney's Meet the Robinsons has a blast with the computer-generated medium with vibrant colors and goofy story.
DVD Review: Meet the Robinsons
Meet the Robinsons tells the story of Lewis, a brilliant twelve-year-old who gets picked up by a mysterious boy who takes him away in a time machine. The future brings an incredible setting for Disney to have some fun. Color, depth and more color. This film looks beautiful upconverted to 1080i on my HDTV.
I was never able to catch the film in theaters, so I'm left with only one complaint: Running time. I know that 90-minutes is the standard for animated films, but Meet the Robinsons felt hurried and cut short. Not that this exactly matters thanks to all the fun to had in-between, but I wouldn't have minded another ten minutes of color to keep some pacing.
Meet the Robinsons delivers your standard array of extras including audio commentary, a game, a couple featurettes and a few deleted scenes. While I usually admit that it was a good idea to keep the deleted scenes out, all of these seemed to belong.
If you are one of those DVD collectors that is proud of the look of your DVD shelf, The Incredibles, whoops, Meet the Robinsons, you will greatly appreciate Robinsons' vibrant red cover. Yes, the case looks a hullava lot like The Incredibles, a Pixar film that I adore.
