Just when we were prepping for John C. Reilly to don multiple hairdos while singing a plethora of bogus songs in Walk Hard, we are now being told that he will begin sharpening his teeth for Cirque du Freak.

Universal Pictures has picked up John C. Reilly to star in Cirque du Freak, a film that has him playing the lead vampire.
Based on the bestselling children's series by Darren Shan, Cirque du Freak follows Reilly, a vampire who drafts a 14-year old to serve as his assistant. The youth is turned into a half-vampire and becomes the catalyst in a battle between vampires and the rival Vampanese.
Just in case the studio wanted to turn this into a franchise, they have acquired the rights to all 12 books in the series.
Paul Weitz will direct the adaptation off his own script. Production begins February.
John C. Reilly can be seen this Christmas in Walk Hard.
