Summit Entertainment has picked up Kristen Stewart to star in the romantic thriller, Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer's young-adult novel.

Directed by Catherine Hardwick, Twilight centers on a 17-year-old girl who moves to a small town to live with her father and becomes drawn to a mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. Their unorthodox romance puts her in danger when his nemesis comes to town.
Melissa Rosenberg adapted the screenplay.
Like many adaptations today, Twilight could spawn a new franchise, with two sequels -- New Moon and Eclipse -- already published.
Filming is expect to begin this February.
Kristen Stewart was last seen in Into the Wild and is currently shooting Adventureland.
