No matter how much it hurts, sometimes women just want to hear The Ugly Truth. Lakeshore plans on turning this fact into a battle-of-the-sexes comedy, with Katherine Heigl onboard to star.

A romantic comedy from the same team that brought us Legally Blonde, The Ugly Truth centers on a romantically challenged morning show producer (Heigl) who is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love. His clever ploys, however, lead to an unexpected result.
Robert Luketic will direct off a script by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith.
Columbia Pictures will handle distribution. Production is set to begin mid-April.
Heigl, who we last saw handling pregnancy in Knocked Up, can next be seen in 27 Dresses.
