Sienna Miller
While we had expected the first casting update for G.I. Joe to involve some yoked male actor -- The Rock for instance -- we couldn't have been farther from the true. Paramount is picking up looks before brawn, with Sienna Miller the first onboard.
Sienna Miller for G.I. Joe
Sienna Miller will play the film's female lead, described as a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage.
With G.I. Joe set to enter production this February, the casting updates should begin coming at an accelerated rate. If Paramount really wanted to give the film an angle, they should try having a completely female cast.
Okay, okay, maybe wishful thinking.
G.I. Joe is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.
G.I. Joe will be directed by Stephen Sommers. Paramount Pictures, unfazed by the WGA Strike, has given G.I. Joe a theatrical release set for August 2, 2009. A ways out, I know, but what do you want?
Sienna Miller's been a busy girl. She recently wrapped Hippie Hippie Shake, The Edge of Love and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh. She was last seen negotiating love in Stardust.
