The talent for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island continues to grow with Mark Ruffalo.
Mark Ruffalo for Shutter Island
Mark Ruffalo will join up with Leonardo DiCaprio in Shutter Island, a drama to be directed by Martin Scorsese.
In Laeta Kalogridis' adaptation of Dennis Lehane's 2004 novel, Ruffalo will play U.S. Marshal Chuck Aule, who travels with his new partner (DiCaprio) to the eponymous Massachusetts island in 1954. As they investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane, they encounter a web of lies, a hurricane and a deadly inmate riot that leaves them trapped on the island.
Ruffalo has dotted the Is and crossed the Ts, but Paramount is still waiting for that final signature on the contract.
Paramount and Columbia have agreed to share the burden of distribution. Paramount will handle North America while Columbia gets, well, everything else.
Mark Ruffalo can next be seen in Blindness for Miramax and The Blothers Bloom for Summit Entertainment.
