The long-awaited Futurama DVD movie is finally here. Dwayne Carey-Hill directed Bender’s Big Score, which will later air as four separate TV episodes. Even he is not sure how the four segments will play on their own.

“I don't know how if a person were just watching the third, how much it will make sense,” said Carey-Hill. “I kind of as a director just tried to tell it in just like a long, great movie format. Hopefully, most people will just watch it that way. I think they're great. I've never watched them individually to see how they play out. For me, it's one great, long story. I prefer to watch it that way anyway.”

Futurama employed Carey-Hill as he worked his way up to directing, landing his first feature gig on Bender’s Big Score. “I did have the opportunity to direct on the fourth season. Other than that, I did work on the whole series. I was an assistant director. There were a lot of directors from the mid-second season on. I was pretty connected to the series. This is a lot closer for me to working on a feature film because of how long the format is and trying to keep the story all connected."

Carey-Hill is also on board to direct the third Futurama DVD movie. “I got to direct not only the first one but the third one. Equally as cool, I think actually that might be one of those ones that plays better split up into four. My partner Peter Avanzino is directing the other two so I think we work pretty closely together to keep them exiting and looking good.”

Previewing movie number three, Carey-Hill said, “They travel to another world. Kind of very typical Futurama story where it's pretty wacky but at the same time more cinematic, more meat to the story.”

Before that, Avanzino’s second film will have to resolve the cliffhanger set up by Bender’s Big Score. “Absolutely, it's not just a joke. There's a lot more. Probably in true Futurama style, it's not going to be what you think. It'll be good, it's great, it's really good.”
