Gabrielle Union
There are only a few more Ugly Bettys left before they catch up with the Writer's strike. Fans can look forward to an appearance by Gabrielle Union in one of the final aired shows.
Interview: Gabrielle Union On Football Wives
"I just finished my part of the episode," Union said. "I play [Willhemina's] sister with a mysterious past."
If the part seems tailor made for Union, that's because it might have been. "Some of the writers were writers on previous things I've worked on. It's the closest to what things I think are funny, and I'm such a fan of the show so they've kind of allowed me to be different than Vanessa's character. It's very close to my own sense of humor and what I do best on screen."
Other factors will determine how many times we will see Union on the show. "It's three guaranteed and then maybe five, maybe more. It's going to depend on how long the strike lasts and my availability going into the new year."
If not Ugly Betty, Union will surely find work on other related shows. "I love those people and they always have pilots that they're doing, which is how it came about with Ugly Betty, working with Marco Pennette on Footballer's Wives from last year, Jim Hayman who was one of our directors on Night Stalker. It's kind of everything comes full circle and people keep you working. ABC has been a big supporter so maybe not on Ugly Betty, but certainly in the ABC/Touchstone family. That's generally their plan."
