DVD Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End represents one of those few times where less is more. While many epics enjoy extended running times and multiple plot lines, this latest addition to the genre just couldn't find any momentum to pull it off.
I'm not saying the film is bad, it's actually very good. Can it stand up to the original installment? Nope.
What the DVD does do well is upconvert. For those of you who have DVD players that can upconvert or HD players, this 2-disc set looks great on any high definition television; I'm assuming most of at least one HDTV nowadays.
Though the gags or sporadic in At World's End, you will still find yourself laughing out loud more than a few times. Depp's criticism on pirates and their lack of creativity had me roaring.
The DVD does come packed with special features, but there is already so much to be shown in the film that watching a single extra feels like eating bread rolls right after dinner. We're stuffed, and would have preferred some of the scenes shown in the film to be moved to 'deleted'.
Should you add Pirates 3 to you collection? Of course, as you know you already own the other two and, like it or hate it, you're still going to buy it for the holidays.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End arrives on DVD December 4th.
