Talk about a late jump off the starting line -- Time Warner cable continues to disappoint (sigh) -- but we have finally caught up to the first trailer for Speed Racer.

Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized—the legendary Rex Racer—whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill.
Speed Racer is a celebration of computer-generated special effects and shows just what a film can look like if you think way, way outside the box. Though I was first unsure about mixing the Wachowski Brothers with a family film, this adaptation looks as exciting as they come.
