New Regency has picked up Anne Hathaway and her darker look to contrast with that of Kate Hudson in Bride Wars, a romantic comedy to be directed by Gary Winick.

A nightmare for many women, Hathaway and Hudson will play best friends who are pitted against each other when their wedding dates clash. They compete for venues, services and guests, once it's clear that neither will step aside.
Since a woman's wedding day is like the coup de grace of her life, one can imagine how this battle turns into a war.
The script, written by scribes June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson, was completed pre-strike. Production will begin early next year.
Hathaway can next be seen opposite Steve Carell in Get Smart.
