Morris Chestnut has been many women's dream man from romantic comedies like Two Can Play That Game and The Best Man. He didn't want to do any more, but The Perfect Holiday sure sounds like one. He plays a mall Santa who courts the mother of a girl on his lap.
Chestnut Celebrates The Perfect Holiday
"This was a holiday movie though," Chestnut explained. "This was a movie that when I did it, it was an opportunity to, if we executed it right, that hopefully it would be a movie that people would look at every Christmastime. That's what this was."
It was a grueling ordeal too. "It was awful because we shot in the summer in Jersey. They set records on how hot it was that summer. Really, it was like the hottest summer in like 30 years. To be in the Santa suit, whew, it was tough."
Surrounded by comedians like Charlie Murphy and Katt Williams, Chestnut just set them up for their punchlines. "I wasn't in that many scenes with them. Working with Faizon [Love], he's the one I worked with the most and he had a lot of moments on set where I was just laughing. I just really had a good time and I really appreciate and respect the talent of these comedians and people who are able to be funny in certain types of situations. Working with Faizon and back to I remember when I worked with Anthony Anderson, working with these cats I just really have a good time. I'll let them do that. I'll always be the straight cat and I'll stay in my lane."
The Perfect Holiday
Hopefully the film can help people enjoy the season. Chestnut has experienced too much of the opposite. "Just around the holiday times, I just like to see people being able to enjoy the holidays because everyone in my life, they don't enjoy the holidays because some people don't have people to really enjoy them with. That's kind of difficult, so I like to have a holiday where people really enjoy them for whatever reason."
The Perfect Holiday opens to theaters on December 12th.
