Fox Searchlight is adding some sass to The Secret Life of Bees by picking up Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah and Sophie Okonedo.

Just when it looks like there couldn't be any more sass working on this production, Alicia Keys is also in negotiations to join the production.
Set in South Carolina in 1964, The Secret Life of Bees centers on Lily Owens (Fanning), who escapes her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father by running away with her caregiver and only friend (Hudson) to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother's past. Latifah, Okonedo and Keys would play the three sisters. The film is based on the Sue Monk Kidd novel of the same name.
Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct off a screenplay she wrote.
The trio will join Dakota Fanning, who is already onboard to star.
Production on The Secret Life of Bees is set to being January 9th in North Carolina. Fox Searchlight hopes to have the film in theaters before 2008 closes out.
